My internship

Guess what… I’m gonna start THIS COMING MONDAY with my internship! After a lot of meetings, phonecalls from abroad, some good thinking and talking to the exam commission of both Biomedicine and Journalism, I have made my decision. I’m gonna split up my internship.

The first three months I will stay in Holland. I will work on a project for the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and Environment), and basically my task will be to ‘pimp up’ a website about health and diseases. I have to update the whole content of the website, do a small ‘publieksonderzoek’ to see which encyclopedia can serve best as their source for medical information, and finally I have to write a report to give them advise on how to put the actual information online. Hm it sounds a bit dull if I describe it like this, but it’s actually really cool!

So this coming Monday I can already start working on it, and this afternoon I will be going to the RIVM itself to have a meeting – They arranged that I will be picked up from the train station by a cab. I feel important already!

And then, from the beginning of May on, it is very very likely that I will go to Geneva. I am still having tiny doubts, but I really think it’s gonna be Switzerland. Working for three months at the headquarters of WHO will be such an experience and chance that I don’t want to, and therefore simply can’t, miss it.

It feels good that will split up my internship. To be honest all the projects I got offered were very interesting, and like this I can at least work on two of them. It might be that the ministry of VWS will also still play a role, but that's still a bit vague. For now, I'm happy with my decision and I'm looking forwards to start this coming Monday!
