So to give you a short update about my life here:
- Since last Monday I am the new 'intern coordinator'. I thought: 'Sure, I can do that, won't be much work so I can easily take over the job'. Well.. that was a bit too simple thinking :s I am now coordinating the program of 172 interns (!) here at WHO, meaning I have to help all the newies to settle down and to get them registered, I have to organize lunches and drinks after work, plus there is a big event coming up where I'm involved in as well. It's an induction day for students, and not only do I have to find and invite speakers, I also have to give a presentation myself... About the history of WHO, explaining the structure of the organization etc. Woops, presenting this for a LOT of persons..!
- I'm (finally!) having a lot of work here at WHO. All very interesting, and I am now also working for another department. Guess what, they liked my work so much - making a concept for a newsletter - that 10minutes ago they offered me a job... But it's here in Geneva so unfortunately I had to say no.
- And then, my news about the European Commission... Sigh... I got an email last Tuesday, saying that they have selected their trainees and unfortunately I am not one of them. I felt down about it for a day, but now I am full of new energy again to find another job. A better one. Because for some reason I feel like this is happening for a reason - just like my cancelled Kenya-project. I am sure that in the end I will find something much more interesting. We'll see. But from next week on I will start with some serious job hunting!
- And... That was about it! I only have to work one more hour before my long weekend will start, because I won't be back at WHO until Tuesday! My dad and bro are arriving tonight; we we'll be renting a car, go around and just relax a bit. And who knows, maybe it will be relaxing in the sun along the Como Lake in Italy?!
You will find out next week!
Arrivederci,
Yoline
